The Department of Chemical Engineering in the College of Engineering
and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University invites applications
for a post-doctoral fellow to develop dynamic models and design the
control system of solid-sorbent based systems for CO2 capture. The
system will generate sequestration-ready CO2 stream considering various
process scales-1 MW, 100 MW, and full scale for use with a baseline
subcritical PC plant.  The successful candidate will collaborate closely
with researchers at the Department of Energy’s National Energy
Technology Laboratory (NETL) in Morgantown.  This appointment will be
effective July 1, 2011.

The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a
related discipline when the appointment begins.  The candidates who have
fulfilled all the requirements of Ph.D. will also be considered. In
addition, the successful candidate must possess some of the following
qualifications:

§	Demonstrated sound knowledge of using commercial process
software such as Aspen Plus, Aspen Plus Dynamics, etc. 
§	Understanding of the thermodynamics and kinetics of key unit
operations that are the building blocks of the solid-sorbent based CO2
capture process
§	Development of PDE-based process model of  representative energy
systems or energy conversion devices considering the physics of the
system by using commercial software such as Aspen Custom modeler, 
Matlab, Maple, etc.
§	Understanding of fundamentals of control structure and
controller design
§	Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing as
demonstrated, for example, by publications in peer-reviewed journals and
presentations at technical meetings.
§	Ability to meet deadlines and prepare, present, and report
results effectively.
§	Ability to collaborate effectively with co-investigators from
WVU and NETL.

eligibility to work in the US and ability to obtain necessary security
clearances to work at NETL when the appointment begins.
