Re: Nominations for the Area 10C Programming Coordinator for 2015.

The policy of Area 10C is to alternate coordinators from academia and industry every year, and
hence the 2015 Programming Coordinator should be from academia. The current and recent past
10C Programming Coordinators are:

2012: Ignasi Palou-Rivera (LanzaTech)
2013: Ioannis (Yannis) Androulakis (Rutgers University)
2014: John Siirola (Sandia National Laboratories)

All the Programming Coordinators for the five CAST Areas participate in the CAST Programming
Board, which is headed by the Division Programming Coordinator (Wayne Bequette, Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute).
Please note that all nominees must be willing and able to devote the time and effort necessary to
carry out tasks required by the position. Recently, Area 10C has only had programming at the Fall
meeting. Therefore, programming requirements associated with the Spring meeting may not be
relevant. An outline of the duties of the Area 10C Programming Coordinator are broadly described as
follows:

2013: There are no formal duties for the 2013 10C Programming Coordinator. However, attendance
at the Area Programming Meeting at the 1013 Fall AIChE meeting would be helpful to learn the ropes
and meet other members of the Programming Board.
2014: Develop the programs for the Spring and Fall meetings for the year for which they are
coordinator. This task is normally performed at the Fall AIChE meeting two years before the meeting
being programmed. Make sure that the Division Programming Coordinator has all the session titles,
chair and co-chair information required for the AIChE programming retreat. Ensure the Calls for
Papers for the Spring and Fall meetings are submitted to the Division Programming Coordinator on
time for inclusion in the CAST Newsletter.
2015: Help the other two coordinators where appropriate (including participating in the central
review process for abstracts for both the Spring and Fall meetings, co-chairing extra sessions, filling
in on short notice for session chairs who cannot make the Spring or Fall meeting, etc.).
We would like to request nominations, including self-nominations, from the general CAST
membership which should be submitted to Ioannis (Yannis) P. Androulakis at [log in to unmask]
T
he current procedure for selection of the Programming Coordinator is election by the currently active
and recent past CAST 10C Programming Coordinators. Please submit nominations to me by
December 28, 2012.
