Nominations are requested for all five CAST Division Awards for 2009.
The deadline for nominations is April 15, 2009. Information about each
award is listed below. More information may be found at

Nomination packages should include a completed 2009 Award Nomination
Form (attached) and no more than four supporting letters. CAST
Nomination packages should be in the form of a single pdf file
containing all the nomination materials and should be emailed to the
Chair of the CAST Awards Committee:

The five CAST Division Awards are as follows:


COMPUTING IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING AWARD

Recognizes outstanding contributions in the application of computing
and systems technology to chemical engineering. Sponsored by The Dow
Chemical Company

Award: A plaque and $3,000.

Presentation: The awardee is invited to deliver an address at the CAST
Division dinner at the AIChE Annual Meeting and write a feature
article for the Division Newsletter.

chemical engineering to computing and systems technology. Sponsored by
Aspen Technology, Inc. and ExxonMobil Chemical Company

Award: A plaque and $3,000.

Presentation: The award is presented at the CAST Division dinner at
the AIChE Annual Meeting.

W. David Smith, Jr. Graduate Publication Award

Recognizes an individual for published work on the application of
computing and systems technology to chemical engineering. The  work
must have been done by the individual while pursuing graduate or
undergraduate studies. Sponsored by E.I. du Pont de Nemours and
Company.

Note: Up to and including 2003, this award was called the TED PETERSON
STUDENT PAPER AWARD.

Award: A plaque and $1,500.

Presentation: The award is presented at the CAST Division dinner at
the AIChE Annual Meeting.

CAST Outstanding Young Researcher Award

Recognizes an individual under the age of 40 for outstanding
contributions to the chemical engineering computing and systems
technology literature. The individual must be age 39 or less on
December 31st of the Award year. An individual age 40 or over will be
eligible for this Award if, on December 31st of the Award year, 12
years or less have elapsed since the individual received the Ph.D.
degree.

Note: Established in 2004.

Award: A plaque and $3,000.

Presentation: The award is presented at the CAST Division dinner at
the AIChE Annual Meeting.

David Himmelblau Award for Innovations in Computer-Based Chemical
Engineering Education

Recognizes an individual or group making new and novel contributions
to computer aids for chemical engineering education. Educational
innovators working in industry or in a company that develops
computer-based educational aids are also eligible for the award.
Specifically, the nomination and the citation for the award must refer
to a significant contribution to computer-based chemical engineering
education within the past decade. Sponsored by CAChE Corporation

Note: Established in 2008.

Award: A plaque and $1,000.

Presentation: The award is presented at the CAST Division dinner at
the AIChE Annual Meeting. The award winner will give an invited talk
in the CAChE-sponsored session at the AIChE Annual Meeting.
