Job Role Summary

ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company’s Corporate Strategic Research
(CSR) laboratory has an immediate opening for a full-time staff position in
the area of mathematical optimization in our Data Analytics and Optimization
Section.  The successful candidate will join a dynamic group of scientists
performing breakthrough research for the Corporation, developing new
scientific approaches and innovative solutions using state-of-the-art
clusters and GPU machines.

Job Role Responsibilities

We are seeking a talented and creative individual to conduct fundamental
research in mathematical optimization and decision science. As member of our
team, the successful candidate will undertake research towards crafting
novel solutions for large scale optimization challenges arising from a
multitude of real problems involving physics, chemistry, geology,
manufacturing, supply-chain, and market economics.

Job Requirements

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Operations Research, Industrial
Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering or
a related scientific discipline.

Expected Level of Proficiency

The candidate should have a strong theoretical and applied background in
mathematical optimization with a proven track record in computation and
algorithm development in Nonlinear Programming, Mixed Integer Programming,
or Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming.  Knowledge and experience in solving
challenging engineering/science problems and parallel computing is a plus. 
The successful candidate will interact with research and business partners
in various disciplines. Strong communications skills and ability to
articulate sound research ideas to partners from different domains are
critical.  The candidate should be excited by opportunities to learn new
skills and willing to grow into new technical areas.
