A postdoctoral position is available in the Process and Energy Systems Engineering group at the University of Texas at Austin. The project seeks to develop novel approaches for integrating the scheduling and supervisory control of process systems.
The candidate should hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering at the start of the appointment. A research focus on Process Systems Engineering and expertise in first-principles mathematical modeling of chemical processes, as well as in mixed-integer programming and dynamic optimization are required. Experience with MATLAB and equation-oriented modeling environments such as gPROMS or Aspen CustomModeler are highly desirable. The project is sponsored by an industrial partner and the candidate will be expected to interact with the sponsor on a regular basis, providing updates, written reports and preparing technical publications.
The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance. The position is available immediately and the review of applications will continue until it is filled.
