Job Description:

In this vital role for the Digital Integration & Predictive Technologies (DIPT) organization you will lead the advancement of our predictive modeling and control platforms to achieve Amgen’s digital plant ambitions.

At Amgen, we envision a future where manufacturing plants are adaptive, responding in real-time to changing conditions and new information to automatically maintain high quality and optimal yields, while ensuring reliable and efficient operations. Achieving this vision requires substantial investment in digital technologies, methodologies, and skills – putting the right people and teams in the right positions to collectively advance our digital maturity and turn the digital plant vision into a reality.

DIPT’s Digital Manufacturing team is at the heart of the digital plant effort. In addition to developing strategic elements of the digital plant design, we are responsible for applying predictive models and advanced control techniques to improve the way Amgen runs its global manufacturing plants. Nearly every project we work on involves reimagining the way we consume, analyze, and derive meaning from real-time process and equipment data. To do this well, we must influence the way foundational data systems are designed and develop modeling assets (models + supporting infrastructure) that build on these data systems to deliver useful products to a diverse set of customers across the Operations organization.

The Senior Digital Product Manager will serve as the business owner of digital systems used for real-time monitoring, prediction, and control, overseeing both strategic and tactical components of these systems. You will work closely with DIPT teammates to design and launch modeling platforms into Process Development labs, pilot plants and manufacturing sites, while ensuring the sophisticated models are seamlessly integrated into our customers’ day-to-day job activities. This requires close collaboration with our partners and customers in Operations and Information Systems and will serve as a bridge between business needs and the technical solutions DIPT delivers.

This is an opportunity to shape the way Amgen uses digital technologies to reinvent how a biologics manufacturing plant operates. This is a unique, high-impact, high-visibility position with ambitious goals and the freedom to creatively mold the role to achieve those goals.

Amgen’s Digital Integration and Predictive Technologies organization is a global Process Development function that develops and deploys advanced computational technologies in: 1) data capture, integration, management and predictive analytics, 2) empirical and first principles modeling towards improved process understanding and robustness, 3) monitoring, control, prediction and optimization of manufacturing, and 4) advanced sensors and automatic model predictive control. We are a diverse, collaborative, cohesive team, with partnerships spanning the organizational structure and globe.

Responsibilities:

1) Serve as a business owner of digital systems used for real-time monitoring, prediction, and control in Amgen’s manufacturing plants

2) Develop and execute digital systems strategy, in collaboration with Operations Information Systems, as part of broader digital plant strategy

3) Partner with team members to design and deploy novel models for use in manufacturing

4) Establish the new Digital Product sub-team within Digital Manufacturing

5) Contribute to DIPT’s operations as a member of its extended leadership team
