The National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) is pleased to announce
dynamic simulator-based IGCC orientation courses for engineers and
managers on July 23-26, 2012 and October 1-4, 2012 at the world-class
AVESTAR Center in Morgantown, WV.
These courses merge classroom learning and realistic hands-on
simulator-based training to introduce trainees to the operation and
control of an integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power plant.
All major sections of the IGCC plant will be discussed and reviewed,
including air separation, gasification, syngas cleanup, CO2 capture, gas
turbines, heat recovery steam generators, steam turbine, and control
systems. During the training, participants will startup various IGCC
plant sections in an integrated manner and will be exposed to simple and
complex unit malfunctions. Control room protocol is also covered
including communications, teamwork, equipment monitoring, alarm
management, troubleshooting, and diagnosing equipment and process
problems.
AVESTAR’s IGCC courses are delivered by highly-qualified instructors
with extensive power plant and simulator training experience. Trainees
learn by operating on a state-of-the-art, high-fidelity, real-time IGCC
dynamic simulator in a modern control room environment. Recommended
participants include engineers, managers, and trainers from electric
utilities, engineering & construction firms, equipment vendors, and
research, consulting, and training entities, as well as researchers and
students from academia and national laboratories.
