About the position:
Are you interested in an exciting opportunity to drive success with data? The Data Science & Analytics group at the Goodyear Innovation Center in Akron, Ohio does just that. The group's project portfolio continues to grow and includes areas of business, tire manufacturing, operations, and technology. The people in our Data Science group come from a broad range of backgrounds including: Mathematics; Statistics; Cognitive Linguistics; Astrophysics; Biology; Computer Science; Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, and Industrial Engineering; and of course - Data Science. This diverse group works together to develop innovative tools and methods for simulating, modeling and analyzing complex processes throughout our company. Primary Responsibilities:
* Develop an understanding of the business, technology, manufacturing processes
* Provide decision-support by training predictive models, performing statistical analysis, or formulating optimization problems.
* Independently perform tasks (including data exploration, cleaning, feature engineering, and data visualization) to support large-scale Data Science initiatives in our global team
* Prepare and present findings of analysis to business stakeholders and product owners leveraging business reporting procedures and project KPIs
* Work closely with other Goodyear associates to industrialize data products including integration of data systems, deployment of models, and testing
Required Qualifications:
* Master's degree in a data science related field
**Candidates for the intern position should be at least one year into an advanced degree
* Experience with one or more programming languages
* Familiarity with several of the following areas:
* Advanced Statistics (Bayesian inference, uncertainty quantification)
* Applied Mathematics (linear algebra, graph theory)
* Discrete Event Simulation
* Optimization (Linear Programming, MPC, Stochastic or Dynamic Programming)
* Metaheuristics (genetic algorithms, particle swarm, ...)
* Deep Learning
* Image Processing
* Natural Language Processing
Preferred Qualifications:
* PhD in a data science related field
* Familiarity/Experience in any of the following areas:
* software development
* cloud platforms (AWS or MS Azure)
* environment management (Docker)
* SQL/NoSQL databases
* Linux systems
* Scrum/Agile
* HPC
* shell scripting
* CI/CD
