The National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center on Structured
Organic Particulates (NSF ERC-SOPs) and has an opening for the position of
postdoctoral associate.
C-SOPs is a multi-university research center headquartered at Rutgers
University with Purdue University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and
the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez as core partners. The center's
research mission is to develop a scientific foundation for optimal design of
structured organic composites and develop science; and engineering methods
for designing, scaling, optimizing and controlling relevant manufacturing
processes. This 2-year (renewable after the first year based on satisfactory
performance) position will be based in the Department of Chemical &
Biochemical Engineering, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey with
relevant visits to the industrial sponsor.
We seek highly motivated individuals with a solid scientific background to
develop 1) novel real-time process monitoring and control models using
integrated process and PAT data generated on a continuous tableting line at
Rutgers University, 2) develop models based on multi-variate methodologies
(e.g. MSPC or other latent variable methods), 3) develop models using data
from multiple consecutive unit operations and 4) utilize model output as
real-time feedback control for the tableting line. The candidate should
ideally have a background in multi-variate methodology, process
engineering/automation and be familiar with Process control (theory and
hardware integration and implementation).
Successful candidates should be able to work independently, have excellent
communication skills and be able to work in collaborative projects,
interacting and reporting to the sponsor and publishing and presenting
research findings. These abilities should be clearly demonstrated in the
applicant's CV and cover letter.
Candidates should have a PhD in Chemical/Pharmaceutical Engineering or
