PhD positions in the areas of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering, Systems and Control Theory and Mathematics

The IMPRS ProEng in Magdeburg, Germany, is a graduate school jointly run by the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems (MPI) and the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (OVGU). Our structured PhD program offers talented junior scientists the opportunity to obtain a doctorate under excellent research conditions, a multidisciplinary environment and close scientific supervision.
In combining cutting-edge mathematical and systems-oriented engineering research, we investigate problems of process and systems engineering, characterized by both high complexity and high practical relevance.

We offer:

- Structured PhD program and well-balanced curriculum designed to train both scientific and soft skills
- Excellent research conditions, a multidisciplinary environment and close scientific supervision
- Support in conducting part of the research at our international partner institutions
- Standard working contract (OVGU) or support contract (MPI) with payment and benefits in accordance with a public collective agreement (TVL or TVöD). The salary is based on TVL/TVöD E13 75%.

Requirements:

- Excellent Master Degree (or degrees equivalent to the German Diploma) in the areas of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering, Systems and Control Theory and Mathematics
- Solid expertise in the area of research of the research group you apply for. Recent activities in the respective research field are highly welcomed.
- Highly motivated and ambitious students that are able to work independently and also as team players.
- Fluent English is mandatory.  
- CV, motivation letter, all university degrees and transcripts of grades (in German or English), two reference letters and proof of English proficiency.
