Nalco is looking to expand its R & D footprint with two new laboratories 
in Pune (India) and Shanghai (China) slated to open in September 2009.  
Together these two laboratories will not only serve the growing needs of 
Asia Pacific region but also will serve as Global Centers of Excellence in 
their chosen areas of focus.  The two laboratories will continue Nalco's 
focus on developing innovative solutions that help our customers use 
Water, Energy, and Resources more effectively

Job Description for "Senior Engineer (Chemistry) – Data Analysis" at Pune:
The researcher is responsible for conducting independent research on the 
design and implementation of statistical/mathematical algorithms and data 
management tools for advanced data mining and knowledge generation. The 
person will work closely with various process domain experts to understand 
and capture domain expertise and application know-how.  This knowledge 
will then be implemented through mathematical models and predictive tools 
for advanced process control applications. The role offers a challenging 
work environment, opportunities for collaboration with Researchers located 
globally in our Naperville (USA), Houston (USA), Shanghai (China) and 
Leiden (The Netherlands) facilities, as well as opportunities for 
international travel.  The role also offers great opportunities for 
working closely with our customers and for hands-on problem solving.

The successful candidate will have:        
·  Candidate with Ph.D. degree in chemistry or chemical engineering is 
required. Strong mathematical background and working experience in complex 
data analysis is required. 
·  Doctoral or Post Doctoral academic stint in a US or Canadian University 
or US or Canada based work experience is required.
·  Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
