The Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts 
Lowell is seeking an outstanding individual for a tenure-track position at 
the Assistant or Associate Professor level for September 2011. Applicants 
should have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline 
and have research interests in areas related to systems biology, 
nano/biomaterials, or molecular/multiscale modeling. A broad range of 
interests will be considered, including metabolic engineering, 
genomics /proteomics /metabolomics, quantitative modeling of biological 
processes, tissue engineering and stem cell biotechnology, and/or cell-
line engineering. The above research areas are preferred, but outstanding 
candidates in other research areas will be considered.  The successful 
candidate will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic 
community through research, teaching and service. The candidate will be 
expected to contribute to teaching in both our undergraduate and graduate 
programs and to develop a strong externally-funded research program. The 
candidate will also have the opportunity to participate with current 
faculty in the Massachusetts Biomanufacturing Center 
(http://www.uml.edu/centers/Biomanufacturing) and the Nanomanufacturing 
Center of Excellence (http://www.uml.edu/nano/). Highly qualified 
candidates with an exceptional record of teaching, extramurally funded 
research, and a demonstrated interest in collaborative research are 
especially encouraged to apply and may be considered for a senior level 
appointment.

Anticipated Hiring Range: Salary is commensurate with qualifications.  

Minimum Qualifications (Required): A PhD. in Chemical Engineering or 
closely related discipline. Involved in an active program of research in 
areas related to Systems Biology, Nano/Biomaterials, or 
Molecular/Multiscale Modeling.  

Other Considerations: A B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering and a PhD. in 
Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline. A broad range of 
interests will be considered, including metabolic engineering, 
genomics/proteomics/metabolomics, quantitative modeling of biological 
processes, tissue engineering and stem cell biotechnology, and/or cell-
line engineering.  A demonstrated excellence in teaching, research and 
publication.  A commitment to develop and sustain an externally funded 
research program.
