Dear Colleague,

Process Systems Enterprise (PSE) is pleased to announce the call for
submissions for the 2012 PSE Model-Based Innovation (MBI) prize
(http://www.psenterprise.com/academic/mbi_prize.html). The closing date for
submissions is midnight GMT on 31 July 2012.

Every year PSE awards prizes totalling €5000 (EUR) for the best published
papers in which the company's gPROMS advanced process modelling software is
used to generate research results in a novel area of application or
technology. There are three prizes: a winner's prize of €3000 (EUR) and two
runners-up prizes of €1000 (EUR) each.

If you used gPROMS family products in support of research published between
1 July 2010 and 30 June 2012, you are encouraged to submit a paper for the
2012 prize. It takes very little time or effort to submit a paper, as
submissions are for existing published papers. All you have to do is provide
some author and publication details on the submission form
(http://www.psenterprise.com/academic/mbi_prize/form_mbi_prize.html) and a
copy of the paper.

The research presented in the paper should make substantial use of gPROMS
based modelling in order to achieve the results described. The judges will
favour novel applications or application in novel technology areas. The
prize is open to applicants from industry as well as academia.

Submissions will be judged by the panel of three leading academics in the
field of Process Systems Engineering: Professor Stratos Pistikopoulos
(Imperial College London), Professor Rafiqul Gani (Technical University of
Denmark) and Professor Michael Georgiadis (University of Western Macedonia,
Greece). The prize will be awarded at the 2012 AIChE Annual Meeting in
Pittsburgh.

The 2011 prize was won by Michael Baldea (The University of Texas at
Austin), Monica Zanfir (Praxair Technology Center), and Prodromos Daoutidis
(University of Minnesota), for the paper Optimizing the Catalyst
Distribution for Counter-current Methane Steam Reforming in Plate Reactors
published in the AICHE Journal, December 2010.

novel technology, to provide quantification to support research results
through the application of first-principles modelling.

More details on the prize, including guidelines for submission and terms &
conditions, can be found on the PSE website at
http://www.psenterprise.com/academic/mbi_prize.html. If you have any
questions, please feel to ask the organising committee by emailing PSE
