Dear Colleagues:

Two open positions for postdoctoral fellows are available immediately at
Northwestern University. If you know of strong candidates, please feel free
to forward this e-mail and ask them to send me a CV with the names and
e-mail addresses of 3 references.

The first position is on the sustainable design and operations of energy
systems and supply chains, in collaboration with researchers from Argonne
National Laboratory. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the
possibility of renewal for two additional years contingent upon satisfactory
performance and continued funding. Higher ranked position, e.g. Research
Associate, is possible depending on the candidates' qualification.
Individuals with research experience in process design/synthesis, supply
chain optimization and/or life cycle analysis are particularly encouraged to

The second position is in the area of dynamic process modeling and
optimization of adsorption separations. The overall objective of this
project is to develop new materials and new adsorption process
configurations for economical capture of CO2 from flue gas. A critical
premise of this work is that the sorbent material and the adsorption process
must be developed together. We are looking for a candidate with experience
in modeling of adsorption processes (e.g. PSA/VSA), process design and
optimization, or related skills. The post-doc will be co-advised by me and
Prof. Randy Snurr (experience in adsorption separations, materials, and
molecular modeling). There will be close interactions with the materials
side of the project, which is focused on development of new metal-organic
frameworks (MOFs). This could be an exciting prospect for the right
candidate to obtain a valuable combination of skills bridging process
modeling, optimization, and materials development. Good communication skills
and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team are essential.

The main campus of Northwestern University is located along the southwestern
shore of Lake Michigan in Evanston, which is about 15 miles away from
downtown Chicago. It provides researchers exceptional opportunities for
intellectual, personal, and professional growth in a setting enhanced by the
richness of Chicago area.

Please feel free to contact me if there is any question.

Best regards,

Fengqi You
