Description:
Dr. Magali Fontaine in the School of Medicine, Department of Pathology is
seeking a Laboratory Research Assistant. She is also very interested in
persons with lab skills who are seeking a “gap-year” or postbaccalaureate
research experience before ascending to graduate or medical school. The
successful candidate is responsible for performing basic research in a
laboratory setting. Dr. Fontaine’s current research is focused on the
biology and immune response of peripheral blood circulating leukocytes and
their interactions with platelets and red blood cells.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Perform routine research activities such as: ELISA assays, maintaining
cultures and specimens, general housekeeping, etc.
• May perform advanced laboratory research activities such as: animal
surgery, microscopy, imaging, flow cytometry, etc. May participate in
research study design
• Compile and analyze research data using relevant computer software
applications.
• Assist with literature research, editing and preparing manuscripts,
scientific illustrations and computer graphics for publication.
• May perform administrative duties such as: training students and/or other
laboratory technicians; assisting in developing procedures and/or methods for
experimentation; and ordering supplies


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or related field of study
• Consideration may be given for a unique combination of education and
experience
Hiring Range: Commensurate with education and experience
