Description:

HJF is seeking a Data Specialist to support the Clinical Breast Care Project
(CBCP) located at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC)
in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support
services to CBCP.

The incumbent is responsible for assisting with data entry, abstraction,
storage and reporting of operational/quality related data necessary to
support research and operational initiatives in the CBCP.

Responsibilities:

Provides data entry and abstraction support for CBCP.
Develops and maintains databases.
Prepares regular as well as ad hoc analytical reports in support of quality
improvement initiatives, research, and operational functions.
Prepares regular reports to Nurse Navigators, Research Protocol Coordinator
and other senior staff as appropriate, regarding research data collection
activities in the CBCP.
Assists researchers by retrieving information from AHLTA and various CBCP
databases.
Assists with QC of completed case report forms, checking for accuracy and
completion. Obtains missing data by interacting with clinical personnel,
reviewing patient medical charts and/or electronic clinical databases.
Maintains clean, accurate data sets through quality control query systems.
Completes chart audits for research compliance.
Maintains archives of completed case report forms.
Maintains communication with data personnel at Windber Research Institute to
collaborate and problem solve issues related to data acquisition and storage.
Assists Protocol Coordinator in recording and filing of completed consents.
Performs quarterly audits on protocol consents and maintains current status
of completed questionnaires.
Maintains spreadsheet of all protocols and number of patients enrolled in
each.
Adheres to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to
confidentiality and privacy.
Coordinates special projects as needed.
Assists Executive Director to maintain excellence in the management of the
research.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of system analysis and
design, SQL, data upload and statistical data set creation for data analysis;
experience with relational databases; excellent communication skills

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer
science, information system management or a related field

Minimum Experience: 0 to 2 years’ experience providing quality assurance
for human subject clinical trials

Physical Capabilities: Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time at a
computer and/or desk; ability to move within the worksite and well as travel
to other research sites

Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: May supervise data entry staff

Work Environment: Office environment

Background: US Citizenship required; eligibility to obtain and hold
Department of Defense issued Secret Clearance.
