HJF is seeking a Research Assistant I to support the Military HIV Research
Program (MHRP) located at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in
Silver Spring, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic
support services to MHRP.
The incumbent will perform research and/or development in collaboration with
others for projects. Provides laboratory and technical support to senior
technical and professional staff. Solves less complex problems in carrying
out research projects in a clinical or laboratory environment.
Responsibilities:
1.Performs laboratory research projects, including collection, calculation,
and organization of data as graphs, tables, or excel spread sheets, and
accurately records all experiments performed in a timely and efficient
manner. (30%)
2.Carries out Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. (30%)
3.Maintains primary cells and cell lines in culture and assists with basic
immunological techniques. (20%)
4.Performs general laboratory duties including preparation of media and
buffers, inventories and maintains supplies in the laboratory and ensures
proper cleanliness of the laboratory. (10%)
5.Assists in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols.
Creates and communicates detailed observations on experiments. (10%)
6.May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by
the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required
training for the role and or required training as mandated by the
Institution.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of standard laboratory
and basic biochemical and immunological techniques, experience with ELISA and
or tissue culture techniques; ability to follow detailed instructions; good
communication and analytical skills; basic computer skills.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required for this position.
Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: Minimum of 0-2 years of experience
required for this position.
Background/Security: Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier I
investigation/Public Trust.
Employment with HJF is contingent upon successful completion of a background

Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated
