Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Calendar 2011

Each year a University calendar of events is published to commemorate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Observed on campus every April, this celebration reflects on the experiences and acknowledges the contributions of persons of Asian descent. Now is an excellent time to start thinking about programming that you could contribute for this year’s upcoming Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. We invite you to be creative in identifying topics for programs or events that relate to your particular unit, organization or mission.

A number of student organizations and offices have already determined dates for annual events. They are listed below and we highly encourage you to avoid scheduling other programs/events on these dates.

April 2 – ISA Show – Sponsored by ISA
April 8 – Taste of Japan – Sponsored by JASA
April 14 – SPEAK – Sponsored by Sigma Psi Zeta
April 16 – Asian American Student Union’s Wiffleball Rally and Tournament
April 16 – Philippine Culture Night
April 21 – K-Expo – Sponsored by KSA
April 22 - APA1 – APA Community Performance
April 29 – Night Market – Sponsored by TASA
May 7 – Asian American Student Union’s End of Year Gala

This year, program submission for the calendar will be online at http://www.thestamp.umd.edu/diversity/apa/heritagemonth/register/form.cfm. The information you provide will be included on the comprehensive published calendar and online. Please fill out the program submission form no later than Thursday, March 3, 2011.
