Undergraduate Research Opportunity in pollination biology and quantitative ecology
>From March to late May
3 Field Assistants needed for pollinator observations, plant trait quantification, and field maintenance. No experience needed, motivation welcomed.
BISI 399 credit available.
Research description: This is a multiyear study of ecological and evolutionary processes behind floral trait evolution in Silene caroliniana. Specifically, I ask how the floral traits of S. caroliniana are shaped and maintained by pollinator‐mediated phenotypic selection through the female reproductive system in a generalized, context dependent pollination system.
Location: Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park at Great Falls near Potomac, MD (~25 mi. from campus).
Requirements: have own car, willing to be flexible with schedule, ~8‐10 hours or ~2 time blocks per week (including weekends when needed), able to hike on rough terrain.
Contact: Sara Konkel – [log in to unmask]
This research is associated with the lab of Dr. M. Dudash and Dr. C. Fenster.
