Paid Student Internship Opportunity in Plant-Insect Interactions

The Burghardt Lab in the Entomology Department is seeking a motivated
undergraduate research assistant to aid in fieldwork and lab work for an
ecological study on plant-insect interactions. The research looks at the
effects of annual fall leaf litter removal and disturbance on overwintering
insect communities. A valid driver’s license and availability during both
spring and summer 2021 is required. Must be tolerant of adverse field
conditions such as heat and brambles. Primary responsibilities include
constructing emergence traps with a sewing machine, placing the traps in the
research site, collecting from the traps every two weeks, and sorting the
collected insects to order. The intern will have the opportunity to conduct
their own independent sub-study for an undergraduate research or honors
thesis as part of the larger project if desired. Visit
