Subject: Volunteer Coordinator (Internship) The Petey Greene Program,
Washington, D.C.

Description:
The Petey Greene Program is seeking a UMD Intern to support the
implementation of two College Bridge Programs for incarcerated learners
starting in the Spring 2023 semester, one in Writing and one in Math. Both
programs aim at helping students to develop the skills necessary to pursue
employment and post-secondary education while fostering a sense of
educational self-efficacy and self-confidence.
During the semester, the Volunteer Coordinator will monitor student and
volunteer attendance, working with PGP staff to provide debrief opportunities
for volunteers. Working remotely, they will conduct regular virtual check-ins
with tutors to ensure that they remain engaged in the program, providing
encouragement and support. Additionally, they will help track tutor feedback
to ensure that it is submitted in a timely manner. The Volunteer Coordinator
reports to and is supervised by the College Bridge Program Coordinator for
Washington, D.C.

Commitment
Approx 9 hrs/week (based on 3-credit enrollment) January - May 2023, with the
exception of academic breaks, final exam periods, and holidays. PGP
volunteers tutor weekly during the semester; The Volunteer Coordinator is
expected to be available on a similar schedule. This is a semester-long
opportunity, with the possibility for extension into Summer 2023 or the
2023-2024 school year, depending on enrollment.
