Subject: Participation in the March for Science on April 22

The March for Science will be holding a teach-in and rally on the National
Mall in Washington DC on April 22, 2017. The activity is supported by the
American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Geophysical
Union, the American Physical Society, the American Chemical Society, and
numerous other nonpolitical organizations of scientists, See

Amidst a careful description of how science works and its impacts on and
relation to society, the March’s website presents a call for action: "The
mischaracterization of science as a partisan issue, which has given
policymakers permission to reject overwhelming evidence, is a critical and
urgent matter. It is time for people who support scientific research and
evidence-based policies to take a public stand and be counted.”

The NanoCenter seeks to encourage and facilitate participation of its members
in these activities in support of the mission and principles of the March.
We plan an organizing meeting at 11:30am on April 6, 2017 in the Kay
Boardrooms, Kim Engineering Building, about two weeks before the April 22

Additional information to facilitate NanoCenter participation will be added
to the March for Science page on the NanoCenter website at You can also sign up
there to be notified of significant updates.
