Subject: Upcoming National Zoo Career Program - Women in Science and
Leadership 3/18
Description:
Smithsonian’s National Zoo and the Friends of the National Zoo would like
to extend an invitation to students in the University of Maryland’s College
of CMNS to attend our upcoming event, Exploring Careers in Wildlife
Conservation: Women in Science and Leadership at the National Zoo. This free
event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 18th from 6:30 until
8:30PM in the National Zoo’s Visitor Center Auditorium.
In celebration of Women’s History Month, this program will bring together a
panel of five women representing a variety of backgrounds and fields to
discuss what it’s like working in the world of wildlife sciences and
conservation at the National Zoo. Our program will begin with a short
discussion on the history of women working in zoos, aquariums, and
conservation. Following this, we will open up the event to questions from
the audience, where participants will have the opportunity to discuss
wildlife conservation and seek advice on working in the field from our panel
of experts. Before and after the program, we will also have posters on
display highlighting some of the research and projects being led by women
around Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute.
Additional information on the program and the opportunity to register can be
found on our website, www.fonz.org/ecwc.
