Description:
The Agroecology Lab at the University of Maryland is seeking a data analysis
intern for the Spring 2022 semester for a project focusing on dietary
diversity and urban agriculture. We are interested in understanding how urban
farms might be able to help meet micronutrient gaps among people receiving
food assistance in Washington DC. The intern will be responsible for cleaning
and analyzing qualitative food recall data collected from survey participants
in DC over the last year, summarizing the data and assessing it for
micronutrient gaps and deficiencies. Our local partner, Martha's Table, hands
out fliers about the project survey with their food distributions. The intern
will also be expected to work with them as a volunteer once or twice during
the semester (metro accessible location at the Columbia Heights metro) to
help with their food distribution program and engage with our partners and
with the local community.

Necessary skills:
Interest in farming, nutrition, and food systems
Fluency in Spanish
Extensive experience working with data in Excel
Experience with R or Python helpful but not required
Social science survey experience helpful but not required
Attention to detail
