Research Assistant: Animal Models of Infection

A research assistant position in host-pathogen interactions is available
immediately in the Brinsmade laboratory (Department of Biology) at Georgetown
University. The Brinsmade lab focuses on the integration of metabolism and
pathogenesis in Staphylococcus aureus and is seeking to understand how the
availability of nutrients in host tissue alters the production of virulence
factors during infection. The exact project will be determined in conjunction
with the PI and will be aligned with the lab’s needs as well as the
candidate’s interests and expertise.

Requirements:
A B.S. in microbiology, molecular biology, immunology or related discipline.
Candidates must have
experience in mouse models of infection and bacteriology.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Attention to detail and organization.
Knowledge of MS office products, basic statistical/quantitative analysis and
computation.
Strong interest in conducting research in the topics described.
Experience in mammalian tissue culture, molecular biology and/or animal
imaging is a plus.
