Come to the NAMI Walks Interest meeting at 6:00 in the McKeldin Special
Events Room, 6137, next Wednesday 4/11!
NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the largest education,
support and advocacy organization that serves the needs of all whose lives
are touched by these illnesses.
NAMIWalks, the signature walkathon event of the National Alliance on Mental
Illness, is being held in Silver Spr. / Baltimore, MD at Veteran's Plaza /
Inner Harbor on May 6 / May 19. University of Maryland College Park has
created a team for this years Silver Spring Walk.
The goals of the NAMIWalks program are: to fight the stigma that surrounds
mental illness, to build awareness of the fact that the mental health
system in this country needs to be improved, and to raise funds for NAMI so
that they can continue their mission.
We will be discussing the logistics of the walk, what you can do, how you
can sign up, and field any other questions that you may have.
