Subject: Ocean Mammal Institute: Employer Networking Sessions
Description:
Ocean Mammal Institute: Employer Networking Sessions
Tuesday, April 01, 2014 • 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
Location: University Career Center & The President's Promise (3100 Hornbake
Library, South Wing)
The Ocean Mammal Institute takes 30-40 interns every year to spend 3 weeks in
the hot Maui sun learning how to conduct field research on the humpback
whale. No experience is necessary! Interns come from ALL majors and ALL
college age ranges.
Our objectives are to change people's awareness, help them feel their
connection to the natural world, and to protect ocean mammals. We believe
efforts to protect a specific species are an effective way to address the
abstract issues of biodiversity and ecosystem protection. Consequently our
programs have three goals:
1. To study the impact of human marine activities including noise
pollution on whales and dolphins.
2. Apply the results of our research to protecting marine mammals and
their environment.
3. Educate people about important conservation issues and empower them to
act responsibly.
Come to this session to learn how you can spend your winter break in Hawaii!
