Subject: Internship Opportunity with the NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program
Description:
Duties: The NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program is seeking an intern eager
to communicating the value of coral reef ecosystems and the body of
scientific research the program funds to conserve them. Potential duties
include:
• Support the planning and drafting of web features and social media
content;
• Identifying and compiling materials for a multimedia library; and
• Support the planning of outreach activities that increase awareness about
coral reefs and the threats they face among key audiences.
This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience framing and writing
content on a range of scientific and environmental topics connected to coral
reef ecosystems. The intern will also have the opportunity to build his/her
professional network through interactions with scientists and communication
professionals at NOAA headquarters and beyond.
Academic status: A junior, senior or graduate level student enrolled in a
communications, journalism program or biological science program.
Location: NOAA headquarters in Silver Spring, MD; the internship could also
be completed remotely
Start date: Flexible
Duration: A minimum of 3 months; number of hours per week are flexible.
Payment: This is an unpaid intern position; however, school credit can be
earned.

About the NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program: The Coral Reef Conservation
Program supports effective management and sound science to preserve, sustain
and restore valuable coral reef ecosystems for future generations. The

reef issues.
