The National Science Foundation sponsors summer research programs in many scientific disciplines in locations all across the country. The program offers students the opportunity to work with a mentor to design a research project, conduct experiments, and present the results of their work. Students typically receive travel grants, housing, and a stipend of up to $5000. Application deadlines vary, but most are in February. To see listings of the programs, visit:
