American Collegiate Innovation Video Contest
Building A Better America Through Scientific Research
When people think about INNOVATIONS and THE INVENTIONS OF THE FUTURE, the first thing that comes to mind probably isn’t … FEDERAL FUNDING! Yet, the two are inextricably linked. It’s perfectly fine if you didn’t know that – most people don’t. But now that you do, use your creativity and expertise to help others make the connection, too.

The Task Force on American Innovation wants you to show us your creativity and imagination in a 3-minute video that demonstrates how federally funded scientific research resulted in discoveries that changed our lives in any or all of the following ways:
 enhanced competitiveness and job creation
 improved quality of life
 strengthened national security.

The first-place winner will receive a $1,000 prize and a trip to Washington, DC to participate in an awards ceremony and a Congressional briefing in the U.S. Capitol. Two runners-up will receive $500 each. All videos MUST be submitted by May 31, 2012.

YOUR MISSION
Create a video, 1-3 minutes long, that uses creative ways to illustrate our message. Entries must focus on fundamental scientific research sponsored by any or all of the following agencies:
 National Science Foundation (NSF)
 Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science
 National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
 Department of Defense (DoD) Basic Research
 National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

You are free to choose how you wish to tell the story, as long as you follow the above guidelines. We're looking for videos that are interesting, engaging, and surprising. Tell a story that people would want to share!

How to Enter:
Contestants must submit their video between March 1, 2012 and May 31, 2012. Each contestant must follow the requirements listed in the judging criteria. Only individual students and groups currently enrolled in a college or university may enter the contest. Only one video may be submitted per contestant. Each contestant must complete and submit the video along with your name, contact information and affiliated university. Groups of more than one individual must submit a contest entry through a single designated individual or entity within the group. Each contestant must upload his or her video to communities.acs.org/groups/american-taskforce-video-contest. Videos must not contain profanity, violence or weapons, explicit content, or personal attacks on people or organizations. Only videos that do not contain obscene, hateful, offensive or slanderous material will be considered.

Judges
Judges are members of the Task Force on American Innovation, which includes U.S. universities, scientific societies, and corporations.
