SCIENCE MAJORS:
Why not used all that experience and hard work in your math and science classes to help other UMD students be academically successful? Interested in helping your peers, gaining hands-on training and experience, honing communication and leadership skills, and becoming a certified mentor or tutor?
The Peer Assisted Learning Program (PAL) in Learning Assistance Service (LAS) is for YOU!
PALs volunteer to participate in a comprehensive training program and assist fellow university students improve their study skills, gain confidence in their scholastic abilities, and provide tips and techniques for continuing academic success.
PALs have the opportunity to receive official LAS Peer Educator Certification and/or College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA)'s International Mentor Training Program Certification (IMTPC). In addition, PALs can receive 1 or 3 upper-level credits.
The training, certification, and one-on-one experience is great for graduate school!
PAL is currently accepting applications for the Fall 2012 term. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Final Deadline for Fall 2012 is September 6th.
