Subject: Maryland "Branches" Summit: April 7 Clarice Performing Arts Center
Description:
Maryland “Branches” Summit
a day of inspiring ideas to integrate
arts, technology, humanities and the sciences
Two years ago, the National Academies of Sciences formed a committee to
examine the benefits of integrated the humanities and arts with STEMM. In the
final committee report titled, "Branches from the Same Tree," there were four
areas of recommendations:
1. Financial support for integrative approaches in scholarship and higher
education programs
2. Better evaluation of integrative courses and programs
3. Enhancement of inclusivity through integrative courses and programs
4. Removal of barriers to integrative approaches to teaching, scholarship and
the creative arts
The Maryland "Branches" Summit on April 7 in the Clarice Performing Arts
Center is designed to address these recommendations and be a kick-off event
to launch projects that will achieve aspects of integration across our
disciplines.
