Subject: Volunteers Needed for The Research Associate Program in Emergency
Medicine and Critical Care (RAP-EMCC)
Description:
The Research Associate Program in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care
(RAP-EMCC), Department of Emergency Medicine, at the University of Maryland
School of Medicine is looking for more volunteers to help with our clinical
studies, which aim to improve patients’ outcomes.
Prospective Studies
The research associates participate in various IRB- approved prospective
studies, including comfortability assessments of mechanically Ventilated
patients, and ECMO patients. These studies provide exceptional exposure to
clinical research and direct interactions with physicians and patients.
Retrospective Studies
Research in the retrospective studies will expose the research associate to
medical charting and working with other tools that medical professionals use
to document patient data. These studies will provide the prospective student
with the core knowledge of setting up and executing clinical retrospective
studies for publications.
Time Commitment:
The time commitment is at least 4 hours per week during weekdays, at the
University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, with the duration of at
least 2 semesters. Participating in retrospective studies is optional and
ONLY available for students who actively enroll and evaluate patients.
Benefits:
Free parking will be provided. Research Associates will have the option to
attend lectures to learn about basic clinical research methodology.
Moreover, Research Associates, who show initiative and actively contribute,
will be co-authors on abstracts and papers, and especially dedicated students
will have opportunities to present abstracts at local and regional medical
conferences.
This is a good opportunity to work with physicians from the School of
Medicine for letters of recommendation, advice on applications, interviewing
tips.
