Subject: Full-Time Neuroscience Research Assistant Position

Description:
HJF is seeking a Research Assistant to support the Department of Psychiatry
for ongoing research projects in neuroscience and psychiatry, located at the
Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda,
Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support
services to USUHS. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting
neuroscience research projects in support of department faculty member and
will be involved in highly specialized assignments responsible for planning
and executing research related to posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), major
depression and substance abuse.

Responsibilities:
Perform pre-clinical research using various rodent behavioral paradigms
(necessary training will be provided)
Perform laboratory assays such as ELISA, western blot, quantitative PCR, and
immunohistochemistry
Manage general laboratory business and work with students to assist their
projects
Assist Principal Investigator in data collection and analysis, and
preparation of final reports and publication.
Performs other duties as needed.

Required Knowledge. Skills, and Abilities: The incumbent must be familiar
with basic laboratory techniques and biology, and experience with behavioral
neuroscience and experimental psychology is preferred. Knowledge of molecular
biology, biochemistry, and statistics is desirable.

Minimum Education/Training & Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree with
a background in psychology, neuroscience, biology or a closely related field
is required, with Master’s degree desirable. Candidate must have laboratory
and research experience.
