Fall 2009 Internship Opportunity in Library and Information Services

Where: IQ Solutions, Rockville, Maryland (www.IQSolutions.com)
Eligibility: Graduate students in library and information services
Salary: $12-14.00 per hour depending on academic level and experience; 
minimum time commitment approximately 25-30 hours per week for one semester
Type of Work: Technology-based tasks including a Taxonomy Project in 
Substance Abuse and Mental Health for the SAMHSA Health Information 
Network (SHIN) and development of a SharePoint knowledge base of topical 
resources. In addition, since IQ Solutions manages a number of 
information clearinghouses for large government agencies, interns will 
be given responsibilities to assist full time information specialists 
with inquiry responses, researching difficult responses, assembling 
training materials, updating of resources, searching PubMed and CRISP 
(Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects), organizing 
and assembling articles and CRISP records, creating bibliographies, 
cataloguing bibliographic information, and other miscellaneous tasks.
Issues: Substance abuse and mental health, arthritis and musculoskeletal 
and skin diseases, neurological disorders and oral health.
Our Clients: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and many of 
its components: Interns will principally work on client issues for the 
National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases 
(NIAMS), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration 
(SAMHSA), the National Institute for Dental and Cranial Research 
(NIDCR), the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke 
(NINDS).
