Faculty Position in Biomolecular and Cellular Engineering
Lehigh University Bioengineering Program
The P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science at Lehigh
University seeks to fill a tenure track position at the level of Assistant
or Associate Professor in Bioengineering. Applicants applying at the
associate professor level need to demonstrate an exceptional track record
in research and scholarship. The college is searching for an outstanding
individual who utilizes a combination of techniques from biology,
engineering, and mathematics to understand the pathogenesis of human disease
or to solve problems in the health sciences. Although all areas of
bioengineering will be considered, the college is particularly interested in
applicants who will complement an ongoing initiative in biomolecular and
cellular engineering. Individuals with expertise in cell/tissue engineering,
biomechanics, genomics, proteomics, microfluidics, multi-scale analysis, or
imaging/analysis of sub-cellular events are especially encouraged to apply.
Applicants are required to have a doctorate in a relevant field of
engineering or science. A doctorate in biomedical engineering or
bioengineering and research/teaching experience in this area is preferred.
Applicants are expected to have a strong commitment to high quality
undergraduate and graduate engineering education, maintain an active and
funded research program, and develop strong partnerships with medical
research centers and/or the biotechnology industry. Bioengineering at Lehigh
is a multi-disciplinary program that includes Chemical, Mechanical, and
Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Biology.
The resources at Lehigh University are excellent and include several
research centers and facilities such as the Genomic and Proteomic Core
Analysis Facility, the Center for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology and
the Center for Optical Technologies. Current areas of interest/expertise on
the Lehigh campus include: cellular and tissue mechanics, biofluid dynamics,
computational biology, biomaterials, drug delivery, biopharmaceutical
engineering, nanotechnology, bioMEMS and medical device design. Further
details can be found at http://www.lehigh.edu/bioengineering.
Please submit a CV, along with a Teaching Proposal describing instructional
philosophy for both undergraduate and graduate education and a 3-6 page
sample Research Proposal describing an externally fundable research effort.
Submissions should be sent to Chair, Bioengineering Search Committee, Lehigh
University, Bioengineering Program, c/o Elaine Correll, Iacocca Hall,
