Job Characteristics
The APC engineer is responsible to identify and pursue opportunities for 
new applications for advanced process control and regulatory control as 
well as maintaining existing applications. This involves liaising with 
operations, process engineering, instrumentation, optimization and 
economics and scheduling.   A high level of understanding of refinery 
processes and process engineering is required.  The APC engineer will also 
provide back up support for the optimization engineer.

The refinery has completed a conversion of control systems for all major 
process units to Foxboro IA.  The utility units are installed on Honeywell 
TDC-3000.

The successful applicant will be part of a multi-discipline team: 
optimization, systems, APC and process engineering. The team includes 15 
individuals, which provide technical support to the refinery. 

Qualifications

Education/Relevant Training/Experience:
· Chemical Engineering Degree.
· Masters or Ph.D. in process control
· Industrial experience in the application of advanced process control.
· Experience in control configuration in distributed control systems 
· Creative, self-motivated and results-oriented.
· Team player with effective communication skills.
· Strong leadership skills a plus. 
· Strong software skills. 

Additional Comments
The Sarnia Manufacturing Centre, Corunna Refinery is located about 10 
kilometres south of the city of Sarnia on the St. Clair Parkway and borders 
on Port Huron, Michigan.  The refinery produces approx 72,000 bbl of raw 
crude into a range of petroleum products. Shell, Sarnia Refinery has 
approximately 300 employees.
