Duties: The University Libraries at Virginia Tech
(www.library.edu.vt.edu) seeks a service-oriented, innovative and
self-motivated Acquisitions and Processing Archivist to serve an
integral role in the rapidly expanding Special Collections Department.
The successful candidate will lead the effort to promote Special
Collections as a center of research, with responsibility for
coordinating acquisitions and processing, and digital projects. This
position will work closely with existing staff to build and provide
greater access to the growing manuscript and University Archives
collections, help develop the internationally known Virginia Tech April
16, 2007 Archives, and other core collections of the department (Civial
War, Culinary history, IAWA, etc). This is a full time 12 month position
on a continued appointment track. The archivist will work closely with
other library departments to ensure consistent delivery of services and
follow standard procedures.
