LIBRARY INTERN
Fall 2008
Position available: Library Intern (part-time, hourly position), 20 hours per week for evenings and weekends, starting immediately. This is a paid internship.
Description: Trinity University Library seeks a part-time Library Intern to provide rotation evening and weekend coverage; maintenance of electronic resources and bibliographic lists, collection development, student assistant supervision, assist with circulation and reference services, and other library-related assignments. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the various aspects of working in an academic library and provides practical, professional library work experience. The position reports to the Library Director and senior library staff.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate would be a Library / Information Science graduate student available to work on evenings (5-10 p.m.) and weekends, dependent upon the needs of the library staff. Familiarity with circulation and reference practices, as well as online catalog and database searching, is preferred. Training on local systems (Voyager, Millennium, and ALADIN) is provided. The candidate must have a strong service orientation, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of academic users.
Trinity University offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate courses and degree programs. Trinity is located on Michigan Avenue, 0.6 miles south of Catholic University and 7 miles from the University of Maryland. A shuttle between campus and Brookland-CUA Metro station is provided on a regular schedule. There is also free parking.
