Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree required.
Position Requirements:
One to two years computer and office experience. One year in a
library-related environment or equivalent. Demonstrated skill in
academic research. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work closely with students and faculty. Excellent
organizational and managerial skills. Ability to identify, analyze and
resolve problems. Be able to adapt to new or changing computer
systems. Some library school experience or university level teaching
experience preferred. This position may assist in library-wide
projects as needed.
Description:
This position is responsible for providing in-person and remote
research assistance and for maintaining the reference collection and
popular periodicals, including processing all materials arriving or
leaving the collection, ensuring the collection is good working order.
The position provides essential administrative support for the
librarians in the Research, Teaching and Learning Division, including
creating the Reference Desk and IM service schedule, gathering data
for program assessment and reporting, taking minutes at meetings, and
maintaining operational documentation. The Reference Assistant assists
the Reference and Instruction Librarians by providing assistance in
setting up and breaking down library instructional spaces for classes.
