ALA Student Member? Want to go to the 2009 Annual Conference in Chicago?
The ALA Student-to-Staff Program is accepting nominations for the 2009
Annual Conference. To make nominations please submit a 500 Word essay
addressing the following: Describe how participating in the ALA
student to staff program will enrich your career as a librarian.
Please be specific as possible, highlighting any of your class and/or
job experiences that may be applicable.

"This program, established in 1973, offers qualifying students the
opportunity to attend an Annual Conference and work behind-the-scenes
with ALA staff.
The following particulars are found at

• Students are expected to work 16 hours for four days
(Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday).
• In return, each student receives free registration, $50 per
diem (4 days x $50 = $200), and housing (each student has a roommate,
when possible) for 5 nights (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and
Monday). The $200 and housing information is sent before conference.
• All transportation costs are the student's responsibility.
• Students will receive a short questionnaire to help us match
them with appropriate ALA staff. Based on their assignment, students
may be expected to perform a range of duties from clerical, to sales,
to use of computers.
