Annual Gas Processing Symposium, Qatar, 11-14 Jan. 2010
------------------------------------------------------------
Qatar is currently seeing an enormous boom in investments based on their
natural gas resources, and their goal is to become the "gas capital of the
world". As part of this, a new conference series has been launched, and the
second conference takes place in January 2010. The conference is co-sponsored by
AIChE, GPA and the European Federation of Chemical Engineers. Proceedings are
published in the “Advances in Gas Processing” book series by Elsevier.
Deadline for abstracts: 01 March 2009
Full paper: July 30, 2009
The focus for the 2010-symposium is sustainable operation of energy and gas
industries, so contributions in this area (including carbon capture and
sequestration) are particularly welcome. Application areas of particular
interest include:
• Natural Gas processing and treatment
• Gas To Power and water
• Gas To Liquid (GTL)
• Gas To Petrochemicals, including olefins, ammonia and methanol
• Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)
Emphasis is on the following areas:
• Design, including debottlenecking and retrofitting
• Operation, including plantwide control; process-, supply-chain, and
enterprise-wide optimization
• Process Safety
• Environmental Sustainability, including clean production and efficient
use of natural resources and energy
• Gas Processing Education
• Gas Processing Tools
• Applications and Case studies
The first conference in January 2009 was a success with an excellent mix between
academic and industrial presentations, and included visits to the world's
largest LNG plants. With its Dubai style development of the capital Doha, Qatar
is definitely an interesting place to visit!
