This position is located in the Public Safety & Homeland Security Bureau
of the Federal Communications Commission. The Bureau serves as the
primary Commission entity responsible for matters pertaining to public
safety and homeland security, including national security, emergency
management and preparedness, and disaster management. The Bureau is
responsible for coordinating public safety and homeland security-related
activities within the Commission.
Job Description: The intern will work with the Bureau’s Outreach staff
and will be responsible for researching and gathering information from
various sources to post on the Bureau’s website (www.fcc.gov/pshs).
Primary focus will be on gathering information from the Internet and
other sources that can be used on the Bureau’s Clearinghouse webpage
(www.fcc.gov/pshs/clearinghouse/index.html) which has been established
for the collection, evaluation and dissemination of public safety
communications information. The Clearinghouse focuses on First
Responders, Healthcare, 9-1-1 Services (PSAPs), State, Local and Tribal
Governments, and Persons with Disabilities.
Job Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have experience in research
(particularly web research) and will have excellent computer skills. The
candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail and must be a
self-starter and able to work independently. Applicants must be pursuing
an associate, baccalaureate, graduate, or professional degree and must
be enrolled in school at least half-time, as defined by the school in
which the applicant is enrolled. Applicants must be at least 16 years of
age and must be U.S. citizens.

Location: This position will be located in the Federal Communications
Commission’s headquarters at 445 12th St., SW, Washington, DC.
Compensation: $15.94-$25.67 per hour
Duration: Positions will be filled as resumes are received. Appointments
will end no later than September 30, 2009.
