Each year, the iSchool celebrates the extraordinary contributions of its
staff through the William G. Wilson Staff Excellence Award. A staff
member whose work exemplifies the “Bill Wilson Spirit” -- committed to
the College, its people, and its mission; helpful, able, warm, and
generous; and willing to help with any situation, often before any
problem might even be apparent -- will be selected to receive the 2009
Wilson Award.
Students, faculty, and staff of the iSchool who wish to nominate a staff
member for the Wilson Staff Excellence Award are invited to provide the
following information via email to Dr. Diane Barlow at
<[log in to unmask]>. Please provide at least one paragraph and not more
than one page explaining how, specifically, the nominated individual
represents the “Bill Wilson Spirit.” It is particularly useful to the
award committee for nominations to include examples of situations that
demonstrate how the nominee exhibits the unique qualities of being
“committed to the iSchool, its people, and its mission; helpful, able,
warm, and generous; and willing to help with any situation, often before
any problem might even be apparent.” Nominees must be full-time or
part-time staff members at the College of Information Studies. The Dean,
Associate Deans, students and faculty are not eligible.
Please note that it is *very important* to use the title "Nomination for
the Wilson Award" on the email message to assure that your nomination is
sent to the selection committee. Nominations are due no later than 5:00
p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009. If you know of a staff member whose work
and service are worthy of special recognition through the award, please
submit a nomination.
Previous award recipients are Cassandra Jones (2008) and David Baugh
(2007).
The winner and nominees will be honored at the Dean’s State of the
College Address in Fall 2009.
