Electronic Resources Specialist – American University Library
Position Requirements: This position works independently within the
Electronic Resources Management unit by providing support for all of
the library’s electronic resources, including journals, databases, and
aggregator collections via the library’s Open URL Resolver Knowledge
Base, SFX, and the ALADIN system. The position also supports library
e-indicatives (such as the implementation of an Electronic Resource
Management system) BlackBoard’s LinkMaker, and usability issues
related to e-resource access systems, and works with the Electronic
Resources Unit to troubleshoot end user access issues.
Position Description: At least two years college or the equivalent
in training and experience working in libraries or organizations with
a public service focus. Ability to work independently and
collaboratively. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in
writing. Competencies of reliability, integrity, accountability,
diversity appreciation, and effective interpersonal relationships
required for employment at AU. Competencies also required are
attention to detail, public service focus, organizational
understanding, planning and organizing, problem solving, drive for
results, and flexibility. High level of competence in working with
spreadsheets, word processing programs, and the Internet. Basic
understanding of information technology systems, including networks
and Internet browsers. Initiative and desire to learn.
Preferred qualifications: experience with library resources, systems,
and services, specifically library databases and electronic journal
collections, Open URL resolvers, ERMs, and library information
technology.
