Library Internship
Summer 2009
The National League of Cities, a non-profit association serving elected
municipal officials across the United States, is seeking Library Interns
to provide assistance to the Municipal Reference Service. Duties will
include: writing abstracts for the City Practices database; responding
to research requests; and other library-related duties - with
progressive responsibility. Interns will also have the opportunity to
research and publish articles in Nation’s Cities Weekly, NLC’s weekly
newspaper distributed to over 30,000 public officials.
Candidates must be currently enrolled graduate students and have
demonstrated excellent writing and analytical skills. An interest in
municipal government or urban affairs issues is encouraged, but not
necessary. This is a paid internship, up to 37.5 hours per week for the
Summer 2009 with possible extension over the fall semester.
The National League of Cities is located two blocks from the Metro
Center Station on the Red, Blue and Orange Metro lines.
