Electronic Resources/Serials Librarian
Wilkes University invites applicants for the position of Electronic
Resources/Serials Librarian in the Farley Library. Wilkes University
is an independent institution of higher education with approximately
2,200 undergraduate and 2,000 graduate students located in
Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, a mid-sized city within two and one-half
hours driving distance of New York City and Philadelphia.
This position coordinates selection, licensing, and accessibility of
electronic resources and print serials. The successful candidate is
responsible for working closely with vendors to set up trials,
negotiate pricing and licensing, and provide ongoing maintenance and
will be responsible for the general electronic resources and
periodical subscriptions budget, management of electronic resources,
user support and training, and the collection and analysis of usage
statistics. This Librarian also supports and contributes to the
Reference Dept. and Bibliographic Instruction and participates in
other activities such as library planning and reference support. A
Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited institution is
required. The ideal candidate will have prior experience knowledge of
acquisitions business practices, including copyright, Intellectual
Property, and licensing terms/issues in a networked environment.
Knowledge of link resolver software, electronic resource management,
and integrated library systems. Ability to work collaboratively with
many colleagues both internally and externally. Excellent
interpersonal, oral and written communication skills essential. Strong
analytical and problem-solving skills. Commitment to using new
technology to advance work goals and to enhance service. Solid
organizational skills. Flexibility and initiative. Enthusiasm for an
innovative, evolving environment Salary is commensurate with
