Job Title: Processing Assistant, National Education Association
Collection
Purpose of this position: To support the work of the National Education
Association Project Archivist in processing the records of the National
Education Association. This position provides valuable experience with
archival processing and materials handling for future archivists,
records managers, and museum curators.
The Assistant will work from January - May 2010, with possible
extension into the summer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Rehousing and labeling photographs.
● Rehousing and labeling audiovisual materials.
● Putting materials in folders and adding labels.
● Entering folder and box data into the archival database system
Archivists’ Toolkit.
● Other special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Punctuality.
● Strong attention to detail.
● Ability to work with minimal supervision.
● Basic computer skills (Windows, MS Word, web searching).
● Willingness to learn new systems and techniques.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Experience with databases.
● Previous work experience in a library, archives, or museum or
coursework in archival studies or museum studies.
● Interest in history.
WORK HOURS AVAILABLE:
● 15 - 20 hours per week
● Between the hours of 9:00 - 5:00, Monday - Friday
STARTING WAGE:
● $9-10 per hour, depending on qualifications.
