Internship Opportunities: There are currently two internship positions
open for spring 2010.
Position Title: Intern, One Maryland One Book
Position Description: Assist the One Maryland One Book Program Manager
with preliminary preparations for Maryland's only statewide community
reading program, One Maryland One Book. Outreach to community partners
including libraries, schools, bookstores, recreation and senior centers.
Assist with the development and dissemination of complimentary
educational and marketing materials.
Skills: Upper level undergraduate or graduate student. Interest or
experience in the arts and humanities or library science. Excellent
verbal and writing skills. Computer proficiency and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Time Commitment: Eight hours a week during office hours (M-F; 9 a.m. to
5 p.m.) for a minimum of ten weeks.
Compensation: This is an unpaid position; however college credit may be
arranged depending upon student's institutional requirements.
Position Title: Intern, Maryland Center for the Book
Position Description: Assist the Maryland Center for the Book
Coordinator with researching and developing a database of Maryland
authors. Intern's work will include a survey of other states' data
bases, developing a format for database entries, and researching and
writing short biographies of Maryland authors
Skills: Upper level undergraduate or graduate student. Library Science,
English or other humanities disciplines. Excellent verbal and writing
skills. Computer proficiency and attention to detail. Ability to work
independently and as part of a team.
Time Commitment: Eight hours a week during office hours (M-F; 9 a.m. to
5 p.m.) for a minimum of ten weeks.
