Digital Collections at the University of Maryland Libraries is seeking a
motivated individual to work up to 15 hours/week through the 2009/2010
academic year (with the potential for continuation as funding allows) as
a Digital Imaging Student Assistant. The position will work with
materials from across the UM Libraries.
Working in consultation with the appropriate curators and staff and
graduate assistants in Digital Collections, this individual will operate
sophisticated digitization equipment to fulfill scanning requests,
complete and augment metadata records, and perform quality control on
digital images.
Experience with special collections materials such as archives, rare
books, photographs, and maps is highly desirable. Candidates who
demonstrate experience with digitization techniques, understanding of
cataloging and metadata standards, and comfort and familiarity with
graphics software, such as Adobe Photoshop, will be given preference.
Hourly pay rate $8.50-$10/hour, depending on qualifications and
background. This is an hourly position only. There are no health,
tuition, retirement, or vacation benefits.
